- New Universal Taxonomy
Now you can submit news, images, or videos to any category on Digg! Categories will be consistent across the board, which means you can view all media types in a given topic, or view one media type at a time (e.g., only images under the “sports” category). We’re also excited to support the launch with new categories. “Offbeat” will be its own category, with new topics, and we’re adding a whole new “Lifestyle” category with topics like Autos, Food & Drink, and Travel. As always, if you don’t want to see a particular topic or media type on Digg, you can click the customize button in the navigation to filter your view. - New Images Crawler
Submitting images to Digg is basically the same as submitting news and videos, with a few notable differences. When you submit a link to a web page containing multiple images, Digg will crawl the page and present up to ten image thumbnails from that page for you to choose the one you want. We’ve also added this technology to news submissions. - Sorting and Duplicate Image Detection
We’ve added a new sort to the images section called “mosaic” view – it’s great for browsing image thumbnails. To help prevent people from submitting duplicate images, we’ve added image recognition technology from Idée Inc.

New Digg Profiles Launch and More
"We’ve completely revamped our profiles from the ground up - making it easy for you to share your favorite stories and discover new interesting content by seeing what your friends are digging. It’s also even easier to find and add friends on Digg."
"And lastly, in addition to Digg Profiles, there are more new features coming later this year:
• Digg Images: A dedicated images section (with thumbnails). Still on track to launch in late October.
• Revamped Comments: No more ajax loads, new clean and lightweight design (similar to the old comment system).
• Digg Alerts: Alerts will give you the ability to create customized email alerts - when a story becomes popular, summaries of popular stories on specific topics, and when your friends recommend stories.
• Story Suggest: Dozens of servers crunch the math to provide you with real-time recommendations (stories and friends) based on what you’ve dugg in the past."

Digg Gets a Makeover
It looks pretty good, but not great. To be honest, I expected more of a change and I'm still waiting on that picture section which should be available pretty soon.

Digg Top

DiggTop is an application for Windows and MacOSX that lets you view a blended list of your favourite Digg topic or keyword feeds. In addition to the full Digg submission information, it will also display a slideshow of images it can scrape from the linked article. View video submissions from your favourite Digg video categories, and preview some videos right in the application. You can also set up keyword and Digg count filters that will notify you with a sound and icon when new stories match your criteria. Requires Adobe Apollo runtime and MacOS 10.4.8 or Windows XP SP2 / Vista.

Diggest - Digg Video Widget
This widget essentially takes the videos off of Digg's Videos section and plays them in one continuous channel. It was built using the new Digg API. It has several configurable options from the drop down menu in the upper-right (like turning off the comments if you find them annoying). You can also embed this player wherever you want, including the desktop with Adobe Apollo.
Sorry about the autoplay. I cant disable it, but you can hit pause.

New Digg Look and Features
Flexible width layout, removed sidebar and new navigation bar, new top sorting methods and top 10 sidebar, video stories will play directly within Digg, new podcast section, and profile enhancements. Very cool. Digg rocks.
