After months of speculation, rumor, and silence from Microsoft, the company is finally talking publicly about Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista. Microsoft says that the first public beta of Windows Vista SP1 will be available in the next few weeks to TechNET and MSDN subscribers. The company confirmed that a smaller group of testers is already putting SP1 through its paces.

Twitter Adds GMail Contacts Import
Twitter has finally added the feature they’ve needed from day one: the ability to import your contacts from another service. For now it is limited to just Gmail, which should apply to a large proportion of the service’s early adopter user base. Enter your email address and password to see which of your contacts are on Twitter, or manually invite people to join.

Today Google announced a new feature on Google Maps that allows you to add maps to your blog or website just by copying and pasting a snippet of HTML. And once you embed the map, it has all the same functionality of the Google Maps you know and love; it's clickable, draggable, and zoomable.

Facebook's iPhone Interface
Facebook has just released an iPhone formated version of the site that works and looks amazing. Comparable to Helio's MySpace application. Try it out at iphone.facebook.com. As an added bonnus you can bookmark it and tell firfox to open it in a sidebar and now you have a Facebook Sidebar.
The New Helio Fin
Helio today has announced the Fin, the first flip phone in the carrier's lineup. The Fin is only 11.4 millimeters thick making it the thinnest phone ever available in the US. The Fin also has a 3 megapixel camera wit 4x digital zoom, 100MB of internal storage with microSD expansion up to 4GB, a Magnesium body with changable faceplates, stereo Bluetooth support, and GPS. The software is comparable to the Ocean with a few extras like MyPet and H.O.T. Helio is also announcing Garmin Mobile navigation for the Fin and the Ocean, available for $2.99 per day with turn-by-turn navigation. The Helio Fin's MSRP is $365 outright, with a new contract it's $225, but for a limited time you can get it for $175.

The Magnum Chrome DS case is a mod for your Nintendo DS. Completely replacing the outer shell of your portable, the Magnum is actually covered in chrome, not some spray-on finish. TiVo rolls out Vista-compatible, DivX-supporting Desktop 2.5
TiVo's official website still doesn't show any indication of it, but Dave Zatz of Zatz Not Funny! says the company's PR folks have confirmed to him that TiVo Desktop 2.5 is now official, and a download link has already been turned up on the TiVo Community Forum. Headlining the updates this time around is Windows Vista compatibility, not to mention support for the transfer and playback of DivX and Xvid files, along with support for conversion of previously transferred recordings. TiVo's also now finally added the iPod to the list of portable devices, and it'll kindly send converted files straight to your iTunes library.
