The PS3 Runs Silent
"Low and behold the power supply was internal with minimal heat to the unit and no fan noises! (I'm not joking, the thing was freaking mute)" says Gamepro. This was only a test kit, but hopefuly the production units are just as quiet.
PS3 Gets a 20% Price Cut
The good news is that Sony said Friday they are dropping the price of the PlayStation 3 in Japan by 20% Bringing it down to an affordable price. This new price puts the PS3 in the same price range as the Xbox 360/HD DVD combo, actually it's cheaper by about $15. The bad news, it's not happening in the U.S. however this price drop is a step in the right direction for Sony.

50 "Dark" Movies Hidden in a Painting
This is an M&M's painting that contains 50 "dark" movie titles disguised as objects. These movies don't have to be scary movies, they can be science fiction to for example. Try and decipher the clues and figure out all 50 movies. It took me about an hour, and if you want you can save your progress and come back to it later. It's a lot of fun.

5G iPods do 640x480, Not Just 5.5G
It seems that Apple restricted the 5G chipset to 320x240 but it could always do 640x480. They've recently unlocked this feature for their new movie service. Was this the plan all along? You sneaky little bastards.

Time To Play Catch-Up
I've been working my ass off the past 5 days and hadn't gotten around to posting anything. Well today's my day off so there's a ton of posts I didn't have time to get to earlier in the week.
Wii Does Flash
iTunes 7 Has Major Glitches
"Users on Apple's web forums and our own tipsters are reporting that some new nanos aren't being recognized in Windows iTunes 7, music being played through iTunes 7 sounds "scratchy" at times, CoverFlow doesn't always entirely download properly, and there are allegations that iTunes 7 has become, slow, bloated, and a resource hog." I downloadesd this the day it came out and i too had some problems. The playback skips now and then but after a restart it's fine but still a bitch. My iPod also wasnt recognized by iTunes once and i had to reinstall it. I believe that Apple has noticed a few of these glitches and are trying to fix them. The first iTunes 7 release was v7.0.0.20 and is now v7.0.0.70 but I'm still getting some problems. for the most part however, I love the new sidebar and TV show catagory. Now i dont see Happy Tree Friends or Dockter Tiki when I'm looking for music. Bottom line is I'm still using iTunes 7 and I'm not going back.

In short, new iTunes 7 does video and gets a make over. The iPod goes 80GB with better software. The Nano goes 8GB with thinner colored cases. The Shuffel is now the worlds smallest player. Theres new headphones and there's the iTV project. Everything lowered in price. Follow the link to Apple if you want more.

iBreath
iTunes Store, "It's Showtime"
If you've tried to use the service formally known as the iTunes Music Store you will have seen the image above. It would seem that the iTMS is undergoing some serious renovation preparing for their movie download service. A hacked XML apple file reveals the following studios will be offered threw this service.
20th Century Fox, DreamWorks S.K.G., Focus Features, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Independent, Lions Gate Films, MGM Studios, Miramax Films, New Line Cinema, Paramount Classics, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Sony Pictures Classics, Touchstone Pictures, Universal Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures
There have also been reports of this notice in the UK, Norway, Italy, Germany, France, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden, Canada, Greece, Ireland, Japan, Australia, Portugal, The Netherlands, and Spain. So it would seem this service will be offered worldwide, or it's just changing its image. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Create Your Own South Park Character
This is probably what I would look like if I were a South Park character. South Park Studio 2 allows you to create your own character with option like hats, hair, eyes, skin, mouth, clothes, and accessories. You can even chose one of 10 scenes from the show as your background including the infamous bus stop. I had fun with it, try it out.
Nintendo is Getting Media Friendly
What started off as a rumor from Leipzig has recently been confirmed for Europe that Nintendo will be releasing an MP3 ad-on for the DS Lite, DS, GBA SP, and Micro. This device is similar to the Japan only release of the Play-Yan witch allowed the user to play music and video via micro SD with a GBA cart adapter. The details on the Nintendo MP3 Player are still up in the air and it is unsure if the player will allow for video playback, however the device will use an sd card and is rumored to run for about 30 euros ($40 US).
PSP Download Service
Sony will be doing a simultaneous launch of the PS3 and PSP download service. This service will allow users with a WiFi enabled PC or PS3 to download not only PS1 games run by an emulator but also movie downloads. This must be how there planning on getting around that whole UMD fiasco. No word yet on a music service.
Bomberman Heading to PSP
Konami has announced that a classic version of Bomberman will be released for the PSP on Sept. 12. The game will also feature multiplayer where only one person will need the game (Looks like taking a page strait from the book of Nintendo). "Normal mode is the latest single player Bomberman adventure, complete with a new story and 100 levels, while classic mode is based on original Bomberman gameplay and features over 50 different levels for players to experience. Bomberman offers a multiplayer battle mode, which allows up to four players to fight for survival in a variety of highly customizable game types across 20 different stages via wireless ad hoc play. Lastly game sharing lets up to 4 players battle together in timeless multiplayer party modes with just one UMD." Bomberman, good shit.
PS3 delayed until March 07 in Europe
I Guess there isn't enough blue laser diodes to go around so Europe gets the shaft.
